The full food menu also runs grills from R150, starters and platters, salads, pasta and breakfast until 2pm. The kitchen is open from 11am until 10pm every day.
Every burger comes single or double — one patty or two, your call, and the price shifts by about R40. That is the whole configuration. There is no build-your-own menu with twelve upcharges, because a burger list that long usually means the kitchen has not decided what it is good at.
The House Cheese is the one to judge us on: a classic beef patty, melted cheddar, house mayo and caramelised onions. R155 single, R195 double, and one of our best sellers for years running. If you want the version with more going on, the F.A.B at R180 adds Danish feta, bacon and avocado, and the Blue puts blue cheese against red onion jam, which is either exactly your thing or firmly not.
Chicken is not the afterthought option here. The Southern Fried Chicken burger uses the same buttermilk-soaked, Texan-coated, double-fried breast as our best-selling starter, and the Flame Grilled BBQ Chicken is the lighter route at R160.
The Falafel burger is R130 single, R170 double — the cheapest burger on the list rather than the most expensive, which is how it should be. It is on the Monday 2-4-1 alongside the others. Beyond the burgers, the full menu runs a Vegan Buddah Bowl, an Arrabbiata pasta, a Greek salad and a whole toasted sandwich section with several vegetarian builds.
Burgers come as they are described. If you want to make it a bigger plate, sides are R40 each — hand-cut chips, curly fries, sweet potato fries, side salad or vegetables.
We are at 74 Waterkant Street, on the corner, open 11am to 11pm daily with the kitchen running until 10pm. That last part matters more than it sounds: a lot of De Waterkant kitchens close at nine, so if it is half past nine and you want a burger, this is a short list and we are on it.
